Disclaimer: Born and raised in The Big Apple, I was raised by a single mom, never breast fed, grew up eating processed foods, my plastic diapers, I’m sure, are somewhere in the Pacific Ocean or under a mound still breaking down, I went to public schools, had a television in my bedroom from the time that I was eight and yet, I am a functional adult. Mother to two hilariously cunning little boys, a freelance writer, and photographer. I share all this to say, everything that you read on this blog stems from my desire to raise my children a little differently. The world has changed and it is still changing. Our planet is blatantly screamIng, “Uncle” and I hear it loud and clear. I want to prepare my children to live efficiently, without the desire for material things; I want them to see through branding (says the ex-product photographer), I want them to love and nurture nature, I want them to know how to co-exist within nature. I want them to grow up to be kind and self respecting gentlemen with a voracious appetite for critical thinking. All these things while growing up in an urban environment. I am a professed text book mom.: I READ, I listen to my conscious, I pray and I parent. The sum of all of those things? The Funny Pages– a splash of colorful, satirical, literary fragments of humor. Not a day goes by when my eyes don’t bulge out of my head like the mother in For Better or Worse because of some circular logic that my 6 year old spun. I just can’t stop laughing. This is my life, our lives, In The Funny Pages. Enjoy!
